The office was clean, the staff were very welcoming. It didn’t feel like a dentist office. I felt very comfortable. Doctor Adams and her assistant were great with me . I got treated very well, she went over everything with me and there was no rush . Over all I am glad I switch dentists because I had a better experience with her than my last dentist.

Why Choose SureSmile Over Invisalign?

Though SureSmile and Invisalign treatments can both reposition your teeth and create a straighter smile, SureSmile may have some advantages.

Length of Treatment Expense Material
SureSmile The average treatment time for SureSmile is six months, but can be longer for more complex cases. SureSmile can realign your teeth faster than Invisalign, so you won't have to continue buying pricey aligner trays. SureSmile uses Essix ACE® Plastic, a leading dental plastic known for its durability to create your trays.
Invisalign The average treatment time for Invisalign is one year, but can range anywhere from nine to 18 months. Invisalign often requires a longer treatment time, making it more expensive as you have to pay for more aligner trays. Invisalign trays are made of medical-grade polyurethane resin.

The Clear Aligner Treatment Plan

If you decide you want to realign your teeth with a series of clear trays, you can request a consultation with SureSmile provider Dr. Adams in Albuquerque, NM.

The dental treatment will include these steps:

Digital Impressions

During an initial consultation, our dentist will confirm eligibility and make a 3D digital impression of your teeth to plan your treatment. These scans will be uploaded to the SureSmile software, so Dr. Adams can determine how aligners will work best for you.

SureSmile Lab

Your scans are then sent to SureSmile's digital lab, where SureSmile professionals design your custom case using advanced digital software. They will carefully assess each tooth to determine its optimal movement into a new position.

Receive Aligners

Once your aligners are complete, you can revisit Dr. Adams and begin wearing your first set.

Checkups

You will continue attending monthly checkups with your dentist to ensure that your aligners are working. You will also continue to switch to a new aligner every two weeks until your teeth have moved into their ideal clinical alignment.

Retainer

At your final appointment, Dr. Adams will confirm that you're ready to finish your dental treatment and provide you with a retainer to keep your teeth in their newly aligned position.

Your aligners are safe enough to be worn while you sleep and easy enough to remove when you eat. Clean your aligners once a day by soaking them in the SureSmile cleaning solution or using a toothbrush, toothpaste, and warm water.

For the fastest results, wear your clear trays for 20 to 22 hours each day. Keeping the aligners in for a shorter period of time each day can ultimately delay your treatment and may even require you to start over from the beginning.

Retaining Your Results

It's common to wear a retainer after undergoing orthodontic care with traditional braces, Invisalign, or SureSmile. A retainer is a custom-made device that maintains the new position of your teeth. If a retainer isn't worn following orthodontic care, your teeth may return to their original position, necessitating additional orthodontic treatment.

How often and how long each patient should wear their retainer is different, but your orthodontist or dentist will give you instructions on how you can maintain your results.

Peak Family Dentistry is currently offering a free retainer with a paid SureSmile case.

What Can Clear Aligners Do That Braces Can't?

Traditional braces are made up of brackets and wires that can be uncomfortable. They're also noticeable and can lead to feelings of embarrassment, especially in older teens and adults.

With SureSmile aligners, you can discreetly straighten your teeth without feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed. Unlike braces, clear aligner trays can be removed, making oral hygiene and cleaning easier. You can also remove the aligners when you eat or when attending an important event.

Don't I Need an Orthodontist for Orthodontic Treatment?

Aligner trays like SureSmile and Invisalign don't require a trip to the orthodontist! Because aligners treat mild to moderate misalignment, a general dentist is more than capable of administering treatment. However, severe cases of malocclusion will likely require braces and an orthodontist to provide them.
